In 2009 I discovered AffiloBlueprint, a flagship product offered  by Affilorama.  Of course, I was skeptical.  I have purchased an embarrassing amount of products that just didn’t offer what I was looking for.  But AffiloBlueprint was different.

It’s a “rinse and repeat” formula that shows you how to set up profitable affiliate sites in any niche, then repeat it in another niche, and another, as many times as you want.

1. Post on your blog.  A lot of people (I’m guilty of this too!) only post to their blogs when they find spare time (and who really has the time?)  Google robots love fresh content so when your site is adding fresh content on a regular basis there’s a good chance it will get a good rank.
2. Find out where your keywords are.  Keywords are important to increase traffic.  But your keyword priorities can change over time.  Be sure to keep up on what keywords are currently the best for your website’s topic.
3. Put a sign up link for a monthly newsletter.  It doesn’t take that long to get an email marketing campaign going.  Take the extra time to incorporate the signup offer in your checkout process.
4. Give something way, gratis.  A free info product, promotional item or anything else will help get people onto your email list, making purchases and may even get your traffic up.
5. Get to know your customers.  Check out who is coming to your blog and what they are saying.  You can get valuable feedback that you can incoporate into your marketing plan.

Making these small changes can make a big difference in your profitability.  Just take the time to consider the ways you can improve your sales, what changes could you make to see real results?

P — Pinpoint Your Destination

Decide where you are going and what it’s going to take to get there.  There are many good business models to follow.  You may decide on affiliate marketing, you may have an idea for your own product, you might want to set up adsense sights. Any of these can be profitable but know where you are going.

L — Leave Your Excuses Behind

It’s really easy to let negative “self-talk”  eat away at your self-confidence.  “My product isn’t good enough.”  “There’s just too much competition for a little guy like me.”  Forget why you think you CAN’T do it and start writing down all the reasons you CAN do it!  Get rid of the negative whining and concentrate on moving forward.

A — Activate Your Avenue

Once you’ve decided on the formula follow it faithfully day in and day out.  Don’t jump around to other systems.  When you stay focused you’ll be amazed at the momentum you gain,.

N — Navigate The Narrows

It’s really easy to get taken in by the hypey headlines that will inevitably flood your inbox.  But take a step back and think about this — what does it REALLY take to make it online?  Basically 3 things — Traffic, List and Conversions.

That’s what I mean by the narrows — focus on these three things instead of jumping on every fad that comes along.

S — Success Is NOT An Accident

No matter how badly you want to believe, in your heart you know you’re not going to get rich overnight.  No matter what the guru-of-the month tells you. You have to put in hard work.  Even though the “rich and famous” might fail to mention this in their pitch-filled headlines you can be pretty sure their profitable home businesses became successful through hard work and P.L.A.N.S.

Targeted Internet Traffic

It’s more than a matter of getting lots of visitors to your site.  You want to get visitors that actually have some interest in what you’re talking about.  Your ultimate goal is to find people that will hopefully purchase what you’re selling. You have to put yourself  in front of people that share your interests.  When you do the research to find out where your customers are hanging out you can work to get your site in front of them.

Get Website Traffic Free

When you’re starting out you will likely be reluctant to pay for traffic.  There are lots of other ways to get free traffic.  Article marketing is one of the tried and true methods of getting free traffic.  There are a variety of article directories you can submit your articles to.  While the most widely known sites are ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com, articlesbase.com, isnare.com — a simple search for article directories will give you lots of other options.

A strong article marketing plan will keep your message in front of readers and present you as an “authority” on your subject.

Forum posting is another great way to get free traffic.  By getting familiar with forums in your niche you can start offering great content to the forum members and link to your site through your signature.  Just enter your main keyword + forum in google to find forums in your niche.  Start out slowly — you don’t want to just jump in and start promoting.  Be sure to read the forum rules, get acquainted and start offering real value to the forum members.

Social Media

Social media sites are another great way to boost traffic to your site.  By  bookmarking your site on places like digg.com, stumbleupon.com, delicious.com and a whole host of other social media sites you can start seeing more traffic to your site.

Just keep in mind that the key is providing great content.  When people land on your web page or your blog you need to have something that will keep them hooked.  By providing great content you’ll keep them coming back for more.

Getting The Opt-In

Remember that most of your readers won’t purchase anything from you the first time they visit your site.  For that reason it’s vitally important you have a method of capturing their name and email address.  Then you can keep in touch with them, continue to offer them great content and keep driving them back to your site or your offer.  Having an opt-in box on your blog is a must, whether it’s somewhere on your blog or as a “pop-up” you need to be offering your reader something of value in exchange for the name and email address.

Just last week I started making a note of all the places I found ideas for possible niche markets so I thought I’d share them with you.  Maybe it will jump start your niche research and open up some new sources you hadn’t thought of before.

I still like to read newspapers (I hope they never truly become extinct!) and besides my local daily I also read the USA Today.  Last week I found several news articles that gave me some ideas:

“Exercise games better than just TV”
keywords for niches:

dance revolution playstation 2 (8,100) (lots of keyword variations for this one)

These are just a few I selected to show you the searches for.  I also added these articles to my list:

“Fight Fat with Sleep,” “Think Yourself Fit,” “Eat More Whole Grains,” “Best Natural Stress Relief,”  “Teach Kids To Spend Wisely,” “Is Your Complexion Aging Too Fast?” and “Have the eco-wedding of your dreams.”

One other idea source — I received a Publisher’s Clearing House ad in the mail — you know the ones with all the little magazine stickers?  I looked through all the magazines listed and jotted down a few niche specific titles to some keyword research on later.

You can be doing niche research as you go about your normal daily routine.  If you can’t cut out articles just keep a notepad handy to write down ideas as you come across them — they will escape you later if you wait!

Here’s the thing…sometimes you just have to sacrifice quality — just a little — in order to gain the advantages that speed brings us.  This is especially true in this business.

Consider that you’ve spend two months trying to “perfect” a product or website or blog layout.  Then you spend another month or two “perfecting” your sales process.  This is all before you’ve even got anything “live” on the internet.  The next thing you know you’ve wasted three or four months without making a single dime.  But if you get something out there immediately you can work on “perfecting” it and hopefully make some money in the meantime!

Now the idea of releasing a product may sound “way over your head” but this still applies to your affiliate marketing strategies.  You need to get started on your plan, get your affiliate links spread around the internet, get your blog up and running, get your articles written and submitted.

It boils down to this:  people who are successful don’t necessarily strive to get everything right the first time.  One of the biggest teachers is experience and you can only gain experience when you stop trying to be a perfectionist and start doing.

This happens to be one of the quickest ways to financial success.  Ask any successful marketer if their first attempts were perfect and I’ll guarantee they’ll say no…not at first.  But they’ll also tell you that persistence and speed are far more important than perfection.

Why I Love Affiliate Marketing - Part 3

Some people have the ability to persuade others and talk them into just about anything.  Especially when it comes to influencing their buying decisions.  They know how to push the right hot buttons, say things the right way and generally get consumers into an emotional frenzy to the point they are ready to click an order button.

There are two key words in that paragraph that really need to stand out in your mind:  “some people”.

Not everyone has this ability.  In fact, only a few do.

That brings me to the third reason why I love affiliate marketing…

** You don’t need to write a world class salesletter**

Have you ever tried to write a salesletter? There’s a  reason why professional copywriters charge up to $10,000  (and sometimes even more) for a SINGLE salesletter. It  takes a lot of experience and skill to write a top-gun  salesletter, which is why most people have a hard time  convincing people to buy if they do create their own products and website.

They simply don’t have the right salesletter in place  to make it all work. Without good copy, it really doesn’t
matter how spectacular the offer is, you’re simply not going to get many sales.

SIDEBAR:  The average conversion rate of site visitors
who become buyers is reportedly less than 2%.  That
means 98 out of every 100 do NOT buy.  That’s why
sales are so incredibly bad for a poor site … you
*might* get 2 sales out of every 300-400 visitors.

BUT, with affiliate marketing, you don’t need to write a  salesletter! You simply direct people to someone else’s  high-octane salesletter for THEM to convert your leads  into commissionable sales.

That’s why I love affiliate marketing.

Pop quiz time.  What does “HTML” stand for?  Don’t know  that one?  How about this - what does “FTP” stand for? OK, one more chance.  Do you know how to work with either?

That brings me to the second reason why I love affiliate marketing…

** You don’t need to build a website **

What scares people more than creating a product is building a website!

* What in the world is HTML?  Or FTP?
* How much does the software cost?  And hosting?
* How do I upload files?
* Why isn’t it formatted correctly?
* Why don’t my graphics look like the ones the pros have?

If you are a complete beginner, it can be very difficult (even using templates) to get an attractive website in place. And hiring a professional to do it fo ryou is out of the budget for most people.

But, with affiliate marketing, you don’t need to build a website.  You simply send visitors to someone else’s
professionally designed site through your affiliate link.

SIDEBAR:  Just in case you’re interested, HTML stands
for “hypertext markup language” and is the coding
used to build webpages.  FTP stands for “file transfer
protocol” and is the process used for moving files
from your computer to a website, or vice versa.

Really, in a manner of looking at it, you get to take advantage of the time and money invested by someone else to develop the site.  Think about it:  when you promote an affiliate link, it reflects firstly upon YOU.  You are the one who is advertising the link, recommending the product, sending people who have interacted with YOU to the website.

The professional site of someone else really represents you as the promoter, in the eye of those who have clicked through your link.

You get the benefits without the bother.

That’s why I love affiliate marketing.
