ABC’s of Relationship Selling - Part 1
First of all what exactly is relationship selling? You might think that the most important part of building your business is getting new customers. And, of course, constantly working at adding new subscribers to your lists is vitally important. But relationship marketing involves learning how to do the “little” things that help retain those customers already on your list.
It doesn’t necessarily matter how great your product or service is, the first thing you should be thinking about is building a relationship with your customers. Then you can tell them about your product or service and see if it’s something they need.
Today’s customers on the internet — no matter what “niche” you might be in — are rightfully skeptical of people “selling” to them. Face it, aren’t you too? So by taking a look at your product or service from a customer’s point view you can see if it is really going to fill their needs.
If you talk to them about your product or service and the ways that you use it you’ll be seen as more trustworthy to potential customers. Be honest in telling them how it has improved your business or your life or filled your particular needs or wants. Don’t just be in a hurry to “sell” them.
You must provide exceptional customer service. People do business with people who take care of them and are likely to share these good experiences with others. This goes beyond just fixing problems promptly. It also means anticipating issues before they arise and avoiding problems. It is this type of customers service that forms the basis of relationship marketing.
